Creating the National Park Service

This is the story from the silent half of the team of Steve Mather and Horace Albright. If these two had not been who and where they were, by the merest of accidents, we would not have a National Park Service.

Quite an extraordinarily personal description of the passionate efforts during the six year period of 1914-19, when a handful of men banded together to forge the National Park system. This is the personal story of Horace Albright, the young assistant who was suddenly and unexpectedly thrust into the position of leader of the effort when the visionary and director, Stephen Mather, had a nervous breakdown.
